Perro de Presa Mallorquin

Since the olden day, there has been an exchange of a lot of ideas and cultures between the nations of the east Mediterranean and the west Mediterranean. This exchange, although mainly included things of a more commercial nature, there were also exchange of domestic animals. These animals however, included mostly, watch dogs and guard dogs for the purpose of protecting the goods in the harbours from pirates and thieves that came from the sea. These dogs usually were of a very large size, they were also very powerful in nature, these dogs also had large heads, however, one type of dog stood out from the rest. It was the mastiff of Iberian Peninsula; the British crossed these dogs with the fighting and guard dogs that they had brought along with them. These dogs soon were developed and came to be known as the Perro de Presa Mallorquin.

These dogs, on a typical basis have a very elongated like build. These dogs are very strong and powerful. They are of medium size. The males and females of these dogs can be clearly differentiated when looked at their heads. The males have a larger circumference of their head as compared to that of the female dog. They have a very large head. Their head is broad and almost square. The forehead is very broad and flat. They have very well defined frontal furrow. When these dogs are viewed at from the front, they back of the skull are practically invisible. This invisibility of the back of the skull is a result of the shape of their skull. The upper scales of their muzzle and their skull is almost parallel to each other and slightly converging in nature.

They also have the presence of a very strong pair of jaw muscles. Their jaw muscles are very well developed and reach the middle region lower to their eye. These powerful jaws of theirs are slightly protruding in nature. There might sometimes be a little number of folds on the sides of the chewing muscles; however, no fold will occur in the rest of the body of these dogs. They have a nose that is black in color. The black colored nose is also very broad in nature. They have a very well developed philturm in between their nostrils. They have a very broad muzzle. This broad muzzle is quite conical to look at. Their muzzle is set on at the inner corner of their eye. They have the presence of a nasal bridge that is very straight in nature. The nasal bridge is also slightly raised in nature.

They have a pair of lateral lips. Their upper lip generally tends to cover their lower lip to the middle part of their muzzle. This is where the corner of their mouth appears. Their gums have the presence of a black pigment. They have a complete mouth, with the presence of a complete set of teeth. These teeth are white and very strong in nature.
