Peruvian Hairless dog
These dogs should not be confused with the Peruvian Inca Orchid. Even though these two breed of dogs have the same country of origin and have quite similar names, they even have quite a lot of similar features and also look quite similar, but the Peruvian Hairless Dog is a completely different and an extremely rare species. These dogs, like all the other hairless dogs, were developed only and only for the purpose companion ship and nothing else. These dogs are very rare.
Not a lot of information is known when it comes to their breed history of how they cane into origination or even how they were developed. A lot of them consider these dogs to originate back to Africa. Some of them believe that these dogs were developed in South America. Some even connect the history of these dogs to the country of china. However, as the name suggests, these dogs are originally from South America and more specifically in Peru. These dogs were developed by the Incas. They were used only and only as companions. They are, what you can call, bed warmers. These dogs however are said to be very reserved and introverted when it comes to strangers. They also have the qualities, the talent and the ability to make excellent watch dogs.
These dogs can come in different sizes. On the basis of their sizes, these hairless dogs can be divided in to three categories. They are: small, large and medium. The small dogs grow up to be about 9.75 inches to 15.75 inches in height at their withers and can weigh about 8.8 pounds to about 17.6 pounds. The medium sized dogs when fully grown to be an adult grow up have a maximum of 19.75 inches to a minimum of 15.75 inches in height at their withers. These dogs when fully grown and given proper nutrition and exercise will grow up to a weight of about approximately 17.6 pounds to about 26.4 pounds. The large dogs, however, as the name suggest are the largest of the bunch. These dogs have the ability to grow as high as 19.75 inches to about 27.5 inches in height at their withers and also when well taken care of, they have the ability to weigh in as heavy as 26.4 pounds to 55 pounds.
These dogs have an appearance quite similar to the sight hound dogs. These dogs are very graceful in their movements. They are quite squarish in shape. They are medium boned in nature. They are also equally well muscled. Their feet are quite unique as they show webbing in between their toes. They have quite an elongated head. This elongated head of theirs is also quite narrow in size and shape. They have a narrow forehead as well. They have a pair of almond shaped eyes. These dogs can have different types of skin in nature. They are usually either coated or uncoated. Both these dogs are allowed and equally desirable by the breeders. The coated dog is also known as the powder puff dog and the the uncoated type of dog is known as the characteristic dog. Their skin colors also tend to vary from dog to dog. They have a large variety of colors that they appear in.
